About Us

Welcome to the North DeSoto Church of Christ in Stonewall, LA. We are a group of New Testament Christians trying to serve our Lord as He has commanded us to do. The Bible is God's word to everyone. He spoke directly to men and women in centuries past, but now has spoken to us by His Son Jesus Christ (Hebrews 1:1; 2 Peter 1:19-21). The 27 books of the New Testament are the words He gave to His apostles and other inspired writers. Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to guide them into all truth and remind them of all the things He had taught them (John 14:26, 16:13). From their words we learn that Jesus built only one church (Matthew 16:18), preached only one plan of salvation (Jude 3) and gave His life once for all people on the earth (Hebrews 9:27-28). Jesus Christ was murdered by crucifixion and laid in a tomb to be forgotten. However, on the third day, on the first day of the week, Jesus miraculously arose from the dead and showed that He was alive to many people with many infallible proofs (Acts 1:1-3). Everything He said and did is true. We exhort each other and teach the lost according to the words of the New Testament which cannot lie or lead one into contradiction. "There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all" (Ephesians 4:3-6). Therefore we must question religions that claim allegiance to Christ, but originate after 33 A.D. Since God's word is written for us once for all time (Jude 3), and every plant that is not planted by God will be uprooted (Matthew 15:13), and the Holy Spirit clearly states no other gospel can be accepted by men (Galatians 1:8-9), then all other books written by men have no authority whatsoever in matters of religion. Jesus Christ is the Author and Judge of all in heaven and on earth. We cannot but stand up for the only doctrine given to us by God, the doctrine of Christ (2 John 1:9-11), with book chapter and verse for all we practice and preach. We believe that one's salvation is obtained by faith in Jesus Christ (John 8:24), confession of that faith (Romans 10:10), repentance of past sins (Luke 13:3), and baptism in water for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 2:38). One must, from this point, strive to serve the Lord for the rest of his life (Revelation 2:10). We strive to worship God in spirit and in truth (John 4:24), and do those things He has commanded us to do: congregational singing (Colossians 3:16), praying (1 Thessalonians 5:17), the Lord's Supper every first day of the week (Acts 20:7), Bible study (2 Timothy 2:15), and a collection by the members every first day of the week (1 Corinthians 16:1-2). We hope that you will join with us in worshiping our God at every opportunity! You are our honored guest!
